FMF, I can see why you didn't want to tell that story at first. For what it is worth, I believe it. After reading Ray Franz's book and the experience regarding the disfellowshipping of the 90 something year old brother after a lifetime of service and sacrifice for Jehovah in Brooklyn under the noses of the GB, nothing surprises me. Also I went to Brooklyn Bethel for a tour in 1995 and felt the "vibe". Not the vibe I expected. It was the beginning of my slackening off before any real research. The closer tot the top, it seems, the worse it is. When I came home to Australia, everyone thought I would be enthused for the org. The only thing I was enthused about was not going back.

FMF: A Wake Up Story
by freemindfade insorry for the length of this, i hope anyone stopping by to read will take the time and read it.
i haven't included any things i would consider "apostate" specifics about doctrines, or major scandals.
it's just a general layout of the path i took to becoming an exjw.

A WT "prophecy" that finally came true?
by eyeuse2badub inat long last, after 140 years of failed prophecies, it appears that the borg finally got one right!
recall the odd little article published back in the november 15th, 2013 wt about the 7 shepherds 8 dukes (anti-type) and the evil assyrian (anti-type) and some silly nonsense about the assyrians attack on the vulnerable wtbts.
page 20 paragraph 17 of that strange article contained this foreboding prophecy from the faithful and discreet slave, (anti-type);.

Judge Rutherford got it right then and it is still right now when he said,
"Religion is a snare and a racket."
Geez, was he a forward thinker. I could see him running Hillsong today.

My understanding is that everything she has done is on video so if she refuses to go before a JC the elders can DF her anyway and notify her of their decision and make an announcement in the local cong where she used to attend. End of story. She's out of the org so can say anything she likes, substantiated or otherwise.

Noticing a pattern in Simons new posting graph with suspected trolls or WT sympathizers
by nonjwspouse inhas anyone else looked at these graphs a little closer?
i see one trend of marked decrease in december then immediate marked increase on jan 1, almost like an exact time.
this is recent and brief observation of a few of those i have heard being called trolls or sympathizers.

Awake at last
Could be that many people are off work at the end of the year and new year and have more time to post and read. Also in the northern hemisphere it is colder so many are in front of the heater reading and doing other craft activities and games. Most posters are from the NH I think.

Strange but Sad!
by John Aquila ini had a couple of elders come visit me about an hour ago.
they wanted to inform me that a brother who was well known throughout the circuit had died.
(i actually knew about it but did not go to the funeral) he was about to hit 90 years old, missed it by a few weeks.

Awake at last
I knew a sister who worked for a large funeral company. All witness funerals in our area went through this company. She once told me that a lot of witnesses leave the truth after a death in the family due to the unloving words of elders and others. So if that is the case, how can we expect the elders to care about a disfellowshipped person when they cannot even care for their own brothers and sisters? -

Awake at last
The happiest years of my life should have been when I was married and when my daughter was born, but sadly those events were ruined for me by members of the org.
The happiest year of my life was when I made the definite decision along with Mr Awake at last to not attend the KH ever again.

My Real Calling / Mission In Life Is Here on J-W.com
by smiddy insometime during or after my conversion to jehovah witnesses 55 years ago , i felt it was my calling , duty , mission , to preach the word , and witness to as many people as i could about the watchtower`s interpretation of the bible that i believed was the truth.. and may i presume i am not alone there .i feel many if not all would have had similar thoughts.. without being presumptuous i think i have found my real calling in life , in doing what little i can to add my 2 cents worth in exposing this religion for what a fraud it actually is ,especially to the newbies , because most of us here have already found ttatt .. so witnessing to the truth about jehovah`s witnesses on this board , gives me much more pleasure than i ever had witnessing for the watchtower organization.
and this site / board has enabled me to do that , thank you simon ,ang, and company.. smiddy.

I have done more meaningful study, bible reading and anything else you can think of since leaving the WT. I enjoy bible study, research and appreciate Jehovah more than ever now. I was born in and left when I was around 50. -

The fact that you even started this topic means, in my opinion that you know the answer and what to do. So go and do it.

An experience at Bethel
by joe134cd ini was just thinking of something i observed on a visit to bethel some years back, that at the time struck me as odd, but now that i look back on it, it might be revealing about their financial situation.
please feel free to agree/disagree with me and also bear in mind this is some years back so my memory may be sketchey.
i remember walking into the front entrance of the bethel to do a tour.

Wouldn't it cost more to feed and pay an allowance to that woman at Bethel than what they would save by re-using the stamps. Just saying.
